Sapt Badri is a group of seven sacred temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu or the preserver. The Sapt Badri Temples are located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttrakhand. Most of the temples lie in the Alaknanda River Valley region that extends from Satopanth in the north of Badrinath to Nandaprayag in Chamoli District. The entire region is popularly known as the abode of Lord Vishnu. The region is abundant with berries and hence Sapt Badri derives its name from “badri/berries.”
